At Rising Star we pride ourselves in creating unique designs for our costumes based on a dancers personality, need to stand out in the competition plus keeping the core ideas of Irish Dance.

Celtic design have been a staple for many years but overtime more modern trends have become the norm as we move with the times.  As the traditional costume shape has changed so have the design tastes.

We ask our customers to pick out five of their favourite costumes from any source or designer. This is not to copy from but by looking at these we can see a common thread, whether it be detailed designs, geometric, Celtic knot work, lots of stone work, simple design etc which usually is common in each of these costumes.  This info helps us design a costume to suit the dancers taste.

Along with notes from the teacher we can tailor the look and show the dancer at their very best on stage.

What if I suggest something wrong?
All customer ideas are fully listened to and our designers are experienced to know what will work or not and offer suggestions. Nine out of ten times a dancer will have an idea of what they want and then change their minds once they see what is possible.

After we have created the artwork for you based on your ideas and suggestions we would send it to you by email for approval.  We do not start the dress until we have full approval from you and your teachers (if they are involved).

We would like to have feedback within 24/48 hours with your thoughts by email. It is at this stage that you can suggest some changes if you feel they are necessary.  It is very important that we have all your ideas sent in before this stage or we may have to charge extra design time for changes that would mean a full new artwork needed.

Keiths Top Tips

Draw attention

Different colour underskirt, so judges notice when you kick high also Interesting back design, again to draw attention on stage.

Appeal to all tastes/ages

If you want something really different try and tie in some traditional Celtic detail so it will appeal to a wider range of dancer when you come to sell.

Resale Value

Crystals may be pretty on stage but adding lots adds to Weight and Cost. Also you rarely get your money back on crystals on resale, Less is More!

Hide Flaws

Be careful of detailed cuffs if arm movement is an issue.  As soon as your arm moves the detail on the cuff is more noticeable. We all have flaws but we can disguise them.
