We’re searching for someone special to join us and take on a key role within our Embroidery Department at our Belfast studio.

Working across our five industrial Happy embroidery machines, you’ll help bring our designers’ ideas to life — creating completely unique embroidery for bespoke Irish dance costumes that travel to dancers all over the world.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role for someone who genuinely loves embroidery, textiles, fabrics, colour and creative design — but who also has the precision, organisation and attention to detail needed to work within a busy production environment.

We’d especially love to hear from you if you have experience in:

• Industrial or commercial embroidery

• Operating multi-head or industrial embroidery machines

• Wilcom embroidery software and digitising

• Textiles, fashion or garment production

• Sewing or other creative manufacturing environments

Experience with Happy embroidery machines and Wilcom digitising would be a huge advantage, and salary will reflect relevant experience.

But we’re also interested in hearing from talented people with strong transferable textile or production skills who believe they could bring something special to the department.

This is a full-time, permanent position based at our Belfast studio, with the opportunity to become an important part of a small, creative team producing work seen on stages around the world.

Rising Star Designs is looking for an enthusiastic and talented Full-Time Dress Maker to join our growing team in Belfast.

This role involves preparing and fully assembling bespoke Irish Dance costumes to the highest standard.

Experience in Irish Dance costume making is desirable, but not essential. If you have excellent sewing skills, attention to detail and a willingness to learn, full training can be provided.

The Role

We’re seeking an experienced Irish dance costume designer who can bring creative flair, technical knowledge, and a strong understanding of stage presence to our brand.

You’ll collaborate closely with our production team, clients, and embellishers to design modern, distinctive, and flattering costumes that perform beautifully under stage lights.

Key responsibilities:

• Create unique Irish dance costume designs from concept to final artwork.

• Collaborate with customers to understand their vision, style, and colour preferences.

• Translate ideas into detailed digital illustrations (Adobe Illustrator experience preferred).

• Work closely with our embroidery, pattern cutting, and crystal teams to ensure design accuracy.

• Keep up-to-date with trends in Irish dance fashion and stage presentation.

• Manage multiple client orders and design approvals to meet production timelines.

About You

• Proven experience designing Irish dance costumes.

• Strong illustration and design skills — digital or hand-drawn.

• Excellent attention to detail, understanding of proportion, balance, and colour.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, creative environment with tight deadlines.

• A passion for Irish dance, fashion, and individuality.
